Newton hates Mondays

Newton is currently riding high on the iTunes chart down under with ‘I Hate Mondays’. For those of you not familiar with the genius track here’s a brief history as told by Australian DJ’s Hamish And Andy

“One of Australia’s greatest thinkers, Horgs, recently identified a gaping hole in the music scene: there had not been a popular song about “hating Mondays” since Sir Bob Geldof penned his masterpiece “Tell Me Why I Don’t Like Mondays” in 1979 (although to be honest, even he didn’t actually commit to “hating” Mondays).... Horgs quickly accessed one of Australia’s greatest song writing tools (his brain) and penned the powerful lyrics you’re about to hear, to plug this gap in the market. From the moving WWII analogies, to the uplifting lyric where it’s revealed that the track will “also cover how we love Sundays”, the writing encapsulates the dizzying highs and gut wrenching lows associated with various feelings you can have about different days of the week.

Once the song was put in front of Harry Connick Jnr, the foundations were laid down for the melody and rhythm, and then when guitar virtuoso Newton Faulkner got his hands on the track, magic happened. Sit back and exhale, safe in the knowledge that finally someone said what a generation was thinking: We hate Mondays. Special thanks to Newton Faulkner and Harry Connick for their time, we wouldn’t have wanted to collaborate with anyone else on this track. And Sunday agrees for sure”.
